This morning I was looking through the Internet and came across a site that had some interesting articles about Sober Living in Rome Georgia. It is an organization that operates five residential communities for those with a “sober” or “tolerable” mode of living. The mission of Sober Living is to create an environment that will enable residents to transition back to a normal or “regular” life without enduring too much difficulty or negative consequences. These communities are designed to be both affordable and environmentally friendly. For example, in one of their communities, the Transitional Living Center, families are provided with a furnished apartment and a group of social services to help them re-establish their lives as well as their sense of self. All members are expected to adhere to some of the Sober Living programs such as; avoiding processed food, red meat, dairy products, and eggs as much as possible. Alcohol consumption is also prohibited. There are no drugs or illegal substances allowed inside the community. Additionally, there are scheduled community events that are held to bring members together such as poetry reading, group discussions, and nature walks. Another community in Italy, the Little Venice, is a twenty-six-unit apartment complex with all inclusive amenities and a moderate budget. Unlike the Transitional Living Centers, this community was designed especially for those who have an addiction problem. This is the type of Sober Living that I would like to recommend to anyone who is considering it.
