The other day I was talking to a person who had moved to Northbrook and she said that she really enjoyed the experience of relocating and finding information about Sober Living in Northbrook. Specifically, she was looking for information on transitional living as it is something she has discovered being a single mom and needs to figure out how to accomplish. She mentioned that she had heard about the transitional living programs from a friend and that program sounded great. It turns out that this program is not as new as the name implies. It is actually one of many services offered at the Sober Living Institute which is located just down the street from the Comfort Suites. This is a well-known transitional housing facility that was founded in 1974. It is one of the very few of its kind in the Chicago area. It provides all kinds of services to their residents including educational services, employment counseling, after-care assistance, and financial assistance as well. There are several other programs that are offered through this so called “complex.” You can check them out if you are wondering what is involved with this type of living. I was also curious to know how much information the Sober Living program was giving people like me who were inquiring about it as well.
