Sober living homes, also referred to as sober living facilities and sober living environments, is facilities that offer supportive, safe and structured living conditions to individuals leaving drug rehabilitation programs. These living conditions are generally based on the premise of drug addiction recovery. Therefore, a person coming to this facility will be in the process of detoxification from a certain substance or a set of substances. These facilities are designed to provide an environment that will help addicts become sober and return to a more normal life. This may include providing them with individual attention, counseling and therapy.

The majority of Sober Living Homes are located in cities like Atlanta, Phoenix, Denver and others. Some of them are located in small towns and communities around the country. The most popular areas to locate these living facilities are rural areas where drug addicts tend to frequent. There is several Sober Living Homes located around the country. The most common drug addicts are alcoholics and opiate abusers. Some of the Sober Living homes also house patients suffering from bipolar disorders and severe depression. Other drug addicts may come to stay at the Sober Living home when their loved ones become too sick to care for them.

It is important to note that not all Sober Living Homes is equal. A Sober Living Home will differ in terms of what kind of activities it offers. Usually, the drug rehab centers have large residential buildings that offer activities ranging from recreation and education to therapeutic counseling and group therapy. In contrast, some of these living facilities will be located in small towns and communities where the addicts will be living in smaller apartments that are only meant for occasional visits to the center.
